Joan Wolfin historiallinen viihderomaani yltää suorastaan fantasiaulottuvuuksiin tarinassa jossa piisaa juonittelua ja seikkailua: Royal bride (Warner Books, 2001; ISBN 978-0-446-60695-0).
Kovin omaperäinen tämä romanttinen hömppäteos ei ollut, mutta sentään kohtalaisen sujuvasti kirjoitettu.
Sen verran teos kuitenkin kiinnosti että otin selvää kirjailijan muusta tuotannosta. Helmetistä selvisi, että Joan Wolfin esihistorialliseen aikakauteen sijoittuva romaanitrilogia on suomennettukin, nimillä Punahirven tytär, Ratsumiesten heimo ja Punapeuran metsästäjät. Lainasin nämä teokset, mutten koskaan saanut niitä luettua, sillä laina-aika tuli umpeen enkä lainoja saanut uusittua varausten takia.
