Leo: Betelgeuse 1 - The survivors

Leo jatkaa Aldebaran-tieteissarjakuvaansa teoksella joka sijoittuu toiseen planeettakuntaan: Betelgeuse 1 - The survivors (Cinebook, 2009; käännös englanniksi Luke Spear; ISBN 978-1-84918-004-7).



Teossarjan osien lukujärjestys aiheutti päänvaivaa, mutta olettaisin että tämä kirjasarja on järkevintä lukea Aldebaran-teosten jälkeen, vaikka toki olen väärässä. Yllätyksiä on luvassa, vaikka toki ensimmäisen kirjasarjan jälkeen osaa jo aavistaa mitä kaikkea voisi arvoitusten taakse piiloutua.

Mark and Kim are sent to Betelgeuse to look for survivors of the spacecraft crash that killed 3,000 people seven years earlier. They do find survivors, among them Tazio Menegaz and Colonel Logan, who tell them the colonisers had been divided over whether the Lums (indigenous creatures) are as intelligent as humans. If they are, the humans would have been forced to abandon their colonising enterprise according to UN laws. Kim decides to investigate for herself.

Leo: La créature

Leon Aldebaran-tieteissarjakuvan viidettä (ja tämän osan viimeistä) teosta ei löytynyt kirjastosta englanniksi käännettynä, mutta löytyi kuitenkin alkuperäinen ranskankielinen versio, vieläpä kovakantisena: La créature (Dargaud, 1998; ISBN 2-205-04761-2).



Ranskan taitoni on olematon, mutta jotain sentään sain tekstistä selvää, ja luonnollisesti piirrokset auttoivat ymmärtämisessä. Tästä voi joka tapauksessa jatkaa sarjakuvakirjojen lukemista eteenpäin.

Leo jatkaa tulevaisuuteen sijoittuvaa sarjakuvaseikkailua teoksessa Aldebaran 2 - The group (Cinebook, 2008; englanniksi kääntänyt Luke Spear; ISBN 978-1-905460-70-0).



Kirja sisältää sarjan osat The photo ja The group. Tarina alkaa avautua ja salaisuukset selvitä, mutta yhä uusia kummallisuuksia löytyy. Varsin taitavaa tarinankerrontaa Léo teoksessaan tarjoaa.

The second volume of the epic, humanist fantasy tale set on Aldebaran, the planet where the first human colony in the solar system was founded. Mark and Kim, teenagers whose village was annihilated, have met a woman called Alexia during their escape. She's a biologist and a friend of Driss, who knows too much about the catastrophe - and has shared this knowledge with her. The government is very interested in this and sends soldiers after her. While trying to help her, Mark is captured and imprisoned. It's the mysterious Mr Pad who helps him escape from prison.
