Maya Rodalen historiallisissa viihderomaaneissa puhutaan tanssisalien seinäkukkasista, jotka ovat jääneet alakynteen englantilaisen yläluokan kovasti kilpailuilla avioliittomarkkinoilla. Kirjojen tarinat ovat täyttä huttua, mutta jonkin verran omaperäisyyttä kerronnassa silti on. Toisaalta saman tarinan toistaminen vähän eri kuosissa ei pidemmän päälle kanna.
