Lois McMaster Bujold: Miles in love

Lois McMaster Bujold tarjoaa kaksi tieteisromaania ja yhden pienoisromaanin kokoelmateoksessa Miles in love (Baen, 2008; ISBN 978-1-4165-5547-6).



Aikoinaan innostuin Bujoldin teoksista siinä määrin että niitä löytyy kohtalainen pino ihan omasta kirjahyllystä, sillä tuolloin ei kirjastosta kaikkia niistä ollut saatavilla. Tämän teoksen kuitenkin lainasin kirjastosta. Kokoelmasta löytyy romaanit Komarr ja A civil campaign sekä pienoisromaani Winterfair gifts.

Sain nyt luettua näistä ensimmäisen romaanin kokonaan, ja se onkin varsin toimiva tarina, mutta siitä eteenpäin rupesi takkuilemaan. Kerronta ei ollut erityisen sujuvaa ja aloin jo melkolailla myös muistaa miten tarina tästä eteenpäin kulkee. Mutta mukavaa oli palata näihin teoksiin, huolimatta siitä etteivät ne samanlaista vaikutusta tehneet kuin toistakymmentä vuotta sitten.

Unfortunately his clone-brother Mark and his cousin Ivan have cunning plans of their own, and the three-way collision of cunning plans threatens to undo Miles' brilliant romantic strategy.

"Winterfair Gifts": Miles and Ekaterin make elaborate preparations for their wedding. But Miles has an enemy who is plotting to turn the romantic ceremony into a festival of death.
