Susan Wiggsin rakkausromaani löytyi Helmetin e-kirjojen kokoelmasta, suosituimpien teosten listalta: Table for five (Mira Books, 2012; ISBN 978-1-4592-2031-7).



E-kirjojen kätevä puoli on se, että tulee tarttuneeksi kirjaan joka muuten todennäköisesti jäisi lainaamatta, saatika edes huomaamatta. En odottanut kirjalta paljoakaan, mutta teos olikin sujuvasti kirjoitettu kertomus orpoudesta ja sijaisvanhemmuudesta, romantiikalla kuorrutettuna.



Mitään erityisen syvällistä tässä kirjassa ei ole tarjolla, ja stereotypioita miesten ja naisten rooleista on riittämiin, mutta toisaalta tekstissä on paikoitellen aitoa kertomisen iloa ja raikkautta. Ja kuvaus golfammattilaisen elämästä oli paikka paikoin iskevää.
