Sarah Zettel: Reclamation

Sarah Zettel kertoo tähtien välisestä matkailusta kohtalaisen näppärästi kirjoitetussa tieteisromaanissa, jossa etsitään ihmiskunnan alkuperäistä synnyinsijaa: Reclamation (Open Road Media, 2013; ISBN 978-1-4804-2216-2).



Romaanin alkupuolisko oli kohtalaisen haastavaa luettavaa, sillä henkilöhahmoja on runsaasti, eikä Zettel juurikaan selittele eri toimijoiden välisiä suhteita tai heidän monenlaisten juonittelujensa perimmäisiä tavoitteita. Salaliitto kytkeytyy salaliittoon, eikä juuri kehenkään voi luottaa.

Romaani palkittiin Lotus-palkinnolla parhaasta esikoisromaanista vuonna 1997. Kieltämättä romaanissa on omaperäistä ainesta, mutta jonkin verran olisi toivonut tiivistämistä ja selkeyttä kerrontaan, osa tekstistä tuntui jotakuinkin tarpeettomalta, ja osa taas oli kirjoitettu turhan koukeroisesti.
